The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Engineering and Computer Science invites applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering in Electronics and Embedded Systems position with the anticipated starting date of August 1, 2025.
Eligible candidates are expected to have prior teaching or industrial experience and to have completed a doctoral degree from a recognized US or international institution appropriate to the field. The desired candidates are expected to teach topics at both undergraduate and graduate levels and their respective laboratories in this area, as well as engage with companies/industries to develop a research program, including publication and external funding, which complements and enhances ongoing research activities within the Department of Electrical Engineering, the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and the community.
Additionally, the candidate is expected to be eligible for and maintain graduate school faculty membership and to be able to teach the following graduate courses and related areas: Microcomputer Applications, VLSI Design, graduate thesis, and special topics. The desired candidate should also have established expertise in at least one or more of the following areas: Microelectronics, Embedded Systems, Electronic Instrumentation or Power Electronics. We are seeking a senior faculty member with in-depth knowledge and established research in Microelectronics and Embedded Systems and strong engagement with industry.
Qualifications
A successful candidate will possess the following requirements:
- PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Engage with companies/industries to develop a research program, including publication and external funding
- Ability to teach the following courses and their laboratories, in addition to other related areas: Analog Electronics, Advanced Electronics, Embedded Systems, Electronic Instrumentation, and Power Electronics; ability to teach the following graduate courses and related areas: Microcomputer Applications, VLSI Design, graduate Thesis, and special topics.
- Willingness to engage in assisting the UTC campus in its ability to reach additional goals as specified in UTC's Strategic Plan and the college's strategic plan.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
