The State University of New York College of Optometry, located at 33 West 42nd Street in Manhattan, is accepting applications for a NYS Department of Civil Service Plant Utilities Assistant (Grade 9) and Plant Utilities Engineer 1(Grade 14).

Duties for the Plant Utilities Assistant (Grade 9) include assisting in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment providing heat, hot water, ventilation, air conditioning, and electrical distribution. Will work under supervision of a Plant Utilities Engineer 1or 2. Perform light plumbing and electrical work.

Duties for the Plant Utilities Engineer 1( Grade 14) include responsibility for the proper operation of the Facility Equipment including, HVAC system, Perimeter Heating, Plumbing and Water supply, and other components of the college physical plant. Candidate will conduct routine preventive maintenance and respond to service calls for equipment malfunction of comfortable environment. Candidate will operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair mechanical and electrical equipment as directed or requested through the work order management system. Candidate is required to have working knowledge of computer system and Building Management System. Candidate may be required to supervise subordinate staff as needed and supervise contractors working on site.

Salary
The hiring rate for this Grade 9 position is s $42,641 plus a $575 shift differential and $4,000 in location pay. The hiring rate for this Grade 14 position is $56,506 plus a $575 shift differential and $4,000 in location pay. Current NYS employees will receive the hiring rate or a percentage increase in basic annual salary, whichever results in a higher salary. View our Benefits at a Glance
