Position DescriptionThe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month , tenured Professor to begin September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be an innovative, dynamic, collaborative, and entrepreneurial Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, providing intellectual and strategic leadership for teaching, research, service, and outreach and engagement endeavors in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Among other duties, the Chair will manage departmental personnel; administer the undergraduate and graduate academic programs with the assistance of Associate Department Chairs; develop and sustain connections with related professional entities to promote teaching, research, development, and outreach; further enhance the department's reputation and research expenditures; effectively represent the department to internal and external entities; support and promote the success of the faculty, staff, and students in the department; and strengthen alumni relationships and fundraising efforts. The Chair will also serve as a departmental faculty member with expectations to conduct high quality teaching and research.

Major/Essential Functions
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.

Required Qualifications

PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or closely related fields.
Full professor or record commensurate with the ability to be appointed as a full professor at TTU as evidenced by research, teaching and service accomplishments.
Record of outstanding research as evidenced by a demonstrated record of securing competitive research funding as PI, scholarship via high quality publications and citations, supervision of PhD students, and other appropriate metrics.

Leadership: The candidate should have demonstrated leadership experience at the department, college, or institutional level as evidenced by a proven record of working with and leading teams of faculty on large grants, department, college, institutional, or professional committees, or in other professional settings.

Visibility: The candidate should have a strong professional network evidenced by their reputation in the field.
Research: The candidate should have a proven record of research scholarship.
Teaching: The candidate should have a proven record of teaching scholarship and practice.
Service: The candidate should have a proven record of service and engagement at institutional and professional levels.
Mentoring: The candidate should have a proven record of mentoring students, post-docs, junior faculty and staff.
